EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Tristen Walker-Shuman is a 40-year and 3rd generation resident of Beverly Hills, a graduate of Beverly Vista, Beverly Hills High School and Boston University. She is a mother of four children attending Beverly Hills schools (one child attends New Roads), her passion for and dedication to education makes the Board of Education a logical next step both personally and for the community.
Tristen began her career in advertising and marketing in 1996 at Team One Advertising. She went on to work in the International Home Entertainment department of Sony Pictures before beginning her own manufacturing business in 2001. Her line earned national recognition in such stores as Bloomingdales and Nordstrom, and over 3000 boutiques around the world. In 2017, Tristen donated the remaining inventory to Baby2Baby and The American Cancer Society concluding manufacturing and paying it forward to families in need.

RELEVANT QUALIFICATIONS
In addition to being a product of BHUSD, Tristen's children have been in the district for the past 10 years. Bridging elementary, middle and high school grade levels, this long term enrollment has given Tristen a clear and thorough understanding of the challenges and opportunities that lie within each. "I am a product of this community, I am raising and educating my children here, so the stakes could not be higher.”
Tristen has spent the last 12 months immersed in all aspects of our district, our funding, our enrollment and educational programming, and the changes the district has experienced through the last two decades, the construction projects and bond measures. She has listened to administrators, teachers, students, parents, and community leaders and has developed understanding of their perspectives and ongoing concerns.
Walker-Shuman has a proven track record of leadership in the district. She has participated in the PTA for the last 10 years including her current role in the PTA Executive Leadership at El Rodeo. She has coached AYSO Soccer, Beverly Hills Little League, and Beverly Hills Basketball League. Tristen served on the district’s Future Focused Schools Team, which gave her a comprehensive understanding of the complex challenges that the Beverly Hills Unified School District faces today and in the coming years. Most recently she co-chaired the successful YES on Measure BH committee which has provided additional funding for much needed work on the district’s infrastructure. Tristen is inspired to work with all of the stakeholders in our community to build a better Beverly Hills Unified School District for our students.
